With great excitement, we celebrate IVAS member Darryl Clifton, an esteemed educator, researcher and illustrator. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our community and academic exchange projects.
Darryl's research spans multiple disciplines, combining illustration, design, anthropology and sociology of education and immersive/virtual technologies. His focus on disciplinary 'disobedience' aims to create transformative educational experiences that promote social justice, equality, diversity and inclusivity.
In 2010, Darryl collaborated with colleagues at the University of the Arts London (UAL) to revive Camberwell Press, transforming it into a vibrant, multi-disciplinary studio. This initiative has provided recent graduates and students with invaluable opportunities to engage in commercial, cultural and social practices.
Currently, Darryl chairs the Immersive Pedagogy R&D and VR and Emerging Technology Groups at CCW colleges (Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon), leading groundbreaking projects such as the pan-European funded research initiative, Accelerate. He is also the co-director of Illustration Educators, a global network connecting educators, practitioners and students in the field of Illustration.
